Dreams

Together In The Stratosphere

I think this dream was like a trip down memory lane whenever I would listen to the song “Holding Out For A Hero” (The Jennifer Saunders version from Shrek 2)

It began on a day at my favourite beach where I had often gone to get away from the city. I was watching the water ripple gently. Then suddenly something terrible happened. The sky became dark and simultaneously the sun’s rays intensified, fighting to break through the clouds as rain fell intensely. I was soaked instantly but couldn’t bring myself to run for cover from this phenomenon.

Kyogre then burst out from the depths of the sea, and at the same time, the sun’s ray’s burst through the stormy sky as the ground shook around me. I scrambled to get away as a great fissure opened right next to me on the beach as Groudon emerged from below and challenged Kyogre. I climbed up the nearest precipice to watch the epic battle unfold as the weather shifted from rain to shine over and over again. I wasn’t too concerned about Kyogre’s massive waves, but more on Groudon’s earthquakes and blazes in case they started to affect where I sat. It felt like a safe spot for now.

Kyogre’s storm then created a maelstrom in the sea and all around Groudon, the ground gave away surrounding them with lava as the battle intensified. I could only watch, transfixed. In my heart, I would have rooted for Groudon because I’ve always been Team Groudon since I became a Pokemon fan but that was not meant to be in this dream.

Then, my fate changed when Groudon unleashed another earthquake that caused me tumble and grip the ledge to avoid falling. Kyogre dove underwater briefly and then rose again creating a giant wave. The water rose so high it soaked me to the skin as I struggled to hold on. Groudon then protected itself with a ring of fire and I felt powerless to do anything to stop them. I thought it would have been cool to watch the fight, but now I knew the error of my ways. The water had made the dirt more slippery as I attempted to climb back up to get away but my fate had been sealed when Groudon’s next attack on Kyogre was unleashed.

Massive blades shot out of the ground, destroying everything around them and the hill crumbled around me as I screamed and fell into Kyogre’s maelstrom, the two monsters oblvious to what happened, they kept on fighting. The last thing I saw, before blacking out briefly was a flash of green in the sky and something rapidly descending toward me.

When I opened my eyes again, the dream was not over. The sky was clear again and atop a tall tower, I was lying in a curled green tale of a sleeping green serpentine monster that was none other than Rayquaza. I didn’t care where I was, or what happened, I was just happy to be there with them and that they saved me.

Just as I sat up, Rayquaza awakened and looked at me. Somehow we found a way to communicate despite the barrier. When I thanked them, they gave a low growl in response while lowering their head which indicated passiveness and respect. I climbed on their back, wishing to see the sky rather than return home and we took off high above the clouds, soaring, dipping, and looping as I clung on tight to them. I never wanted to come down.

I could have sworn there was a time I was singing as we flew and it made Rayquaza fly faster and higher as I did, indicating they were enjoying the sound of my voice.

As the sun set, I reached up and kissed them on the cheek, thanking them once again and promising to stay. Rayquaza let out a happy roar this time and took me higher in the sky, and we continued to fly together forever, away from the society I despised.

Just like the other dream I had where I was Rayquaza, this one is pretty close. Nothing like living a carefree life just flying around all the time.
