Steam Autumn Sale 2023 – What I Bought

Ah yes it’s Steam sale time! There were some really great deals this time. I ended up treating myself due to taking time off work so hey there we go.

As usual I only bought games that were on sale for under $10 and it only equaled to a total of $30

Onde

I tried the demo for this one. It looks, sounds, and even feels so serene with all the rhythm of music as I move. I have no idea what I’m even playing as or what world this is but it was very relaxing so after the demo concluded, I decided to buy.

Dreamscaper

I had mixed feelings about this one and would add it to my wishlist, remove it, then add it again. But after giving Hades a chance, I realized there’s something to love about roguelites. Expect to die a lot and start at the beginning, but each time you do, you unlock permanent perks that increase your chance of success and the story still progresses.

I really like the theme for this one between dreams and reality so I will give it a chance.

Heavy Rain

This is another game from Quantic Dream who also made the masterpiece Detroit Become Human. This game seems to look a little older and some controls were tricky when I tried the demo but hopefully my entire experience is not like that.

The story is about solving the mystery of the Origami killer and games like these always keep me on the edge of my seat.

And now for some honorable mentions… these ones were not part of the sale, but they were on sale as part Cozy Quest that took place right before.

Haven Park

Since I loved A Short Hike, I know I’m going to love this one. The only difference I detect in gameplay is being able to customize. I wonder if there is a store that unfolds for Flint as I help him take care of the park in his grandmother’s place. There’s only one way to find out!

Mail Time

Fellow blogger Magi suggested this one to me, although to be honest, I discovered it before anyone could tell me about it!

It looks really cute and there’s something nice about doing simple tasks in video games like delivering mail. I can’t figure out what, just one of those things.

Fall of Porcupine

When I tried the demo for this game, it was longer than I thought and saw a lot of mature themes behind its cute appeal with anthropomorphic animals living in a small town.

I will step into the shoes of Finley, a young doctor living in the town of Porcupine, and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds beyond what the demo gave me.

Smushi Come Home

I was won over by this game immediately when I saw it at Gamescom so I just had to pick it up. It’s so cute! I get to be a little mushroom trying to find its way home in a beautiful setting. What more could I ask for?

Sometimes a game is love at first sight and this was definitely one.

So quite a haul, not gonna lie. Did you get anything from the autumn sale?

  1. I almost bought Haven Park a couple of times. It has my attention, at least. Looks like you got yourself some great games though! I also bought quite a lot from the Autumn sale, too much perhaps.
If you enjoy roguelikes & roguelites, here’s some more to maybe look into in the future:
    Children of Morta
    Vampire Survivors
    Army of Ruin
    Dead Cells
    Death Must Die

    1. It’s too soon for me to know if I like the genre but suggestions are appreciated. I have yet to learn the difference between them. Haven Park is pretty cheap on Steam right now so I would grab it any time now if I were you.
