Night Drowning Thieves with Eighteen Freaks – Music of September 2023

My blog took a backseat this month due to the pursuit of other projects, I wanted to finish at least two more chapters of my RE8 fanfiction and I did. I was also hoping to publish one more chapter of my Darksiders fanfiction but due to other things that came up, I only managed to get the chapter at least 50% done so progress is progress.

As I always say, readers need to be patient. Every time I get them bugging for a new update, they need to recognize that these things take time. We’re still waiting for Patrick Rothfuss’ next book so there. If I coincidentally had a new chapter published when one of them begged me for one, it has nothing to do with them.

Well, enough about that, here’s this month’s music.

Dua Lipa – Dance the Night

The oddball of the group goes to Dua Lipa. This is a great dance tune from the Barbie movie and it’s definitely perfect for dancing to.

I would live in Barbieland if I could and be the first Metalhead Barbie because why not? There doesn’t seem to be one there anyway. Dua Lipa herself is in the movie, but I couldn’t identify her at first, until I learned she is Mermaid Barbie. Great catchy song for letting go of worries.

Filter – The Drowning

Filter opened their set with this song practically minutes after I got to my seat. When I hear this song, it reminds me of the days I spent listening to Linkin Park all the time.

It has a dark tone to it, but it is also energizing, so it’s a great opener to an unforgettable night. I can see why some people liked this band supporting Alice and Rob on tour.

Ministry – Thieves

Is this where Rob got his ideas from when he formed White Zombie? Because I listento this song and think just that. Funny, it’s also the set opener Ministry played when I saw them.

It goes from hard to fast and back and forth the whole way through but I like it. Many of their songs are about the current state of the world or how it was before. Another energizing song for sure.

Alice Cooper – I’m Eighteen

Yep, gotta put some Alice in here! I actually haven’t done any of his songs in this posts since back when they used to be weekly. I remember when I saw him this month, he had a crutch with him while performing this song it made me laugh.

The song itself is a classic and reminds me of how I felt when I turned eighteen: more freedom and no one could tell me what to do with my life. Even now, at 30, I still have an attitude that is young at heart. I’m sure Alice does too!

My friend doesn’t get why I don’t have Alice on my list of celebrity crushes yet, well, all I can say is I just don’t know him very well yet, surprisingly but you never know, that could change!

Rob Zombie – The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition)

No matter what year it is, Rob will have a new music video out that looks like it’s from the 90s, and no matter how old he gets, he’s still got it! It was quite a surprise to hear this song live. It’s not my absolute favorite, but it’s definitely a banger!

He’s looking classy in his own way in the music video, and I’m so happy I got to see him this year! He stood at a massive podium singing this song with red lights all around as he’s ready to party with us and that’s what I love about him. He brings out his love for horror and metal combined to make his own sound that we fans can’t get enough of.

That’s it for September. Note to self, work on another chapter in the morning with tea a few times a week instead of gaming.
