Ich Evilyn with Flowers and Sunshine Above – Music of August 2023

Well, that’s a wrap on August. I definitely did not get Rainbow Diamond this year, so I’ll just have to wait and see what I qualify for. I also deleted a few posts I was not satisfied with as whenever I try those daily prompts it’s almost not worth completely investing in unless this was my full-time job, or I could always schedule them for later dates!

I had some falling out earlier but was able to turn things around and make amends, plus I started a monthly routine of basic maintenance on Motörizer that I can do myself. I knew some songs were going to be the themes of this month at first listen, so here’s what I’ve got.

Rammstein – Ich tu dir weh

My brother was playing this one morning when he drove me to work. This is second Rammstein song I’ve enjoyed (the first being “Amerika”) and it is catchier than I thought.

It’s easy to tell when Rammstein is playing, not just because it’s in German but also there’s something about their riffs that I recognize immediately.

The music video is weird but I’ve seen worse *cough* Uprising *cough* Muse. Anyway, not a bad song.

Lordi – Evilyn

This beautiful track is one of the best on this album. I wish I could sing it but it isn’t easy, but, what is easy is for my imagination to make use of this Evilyn character and I did when I wrote my original Lordi fanfiction. In my story, Evilyn was a demon queen who tried to seduce Mr. Lordi only to be rebuffed and then she took her revenge on humanity until he was able to stop her alongside his one true love. Take a guess who that is, hehe….

As for the song, I simply love the melody and chorus. It’s not a banger but Awa’s keyboards are on point and so is the solo. I do miss this lineup and really wish I got to see it.

Miley Cyrus – Flowers

Another Miley song! Reminds me of back when I read J-14, she was the most popular solo pop artist picked by readers. I wish I could remember what year that was.

Anyway, this is another great song that is an anthem for how much I love my independence, also a reminder that I should spend some solitude, when I get it, dancing alone. I think it would be good for my mental health and some muscles that are stubborn right now.

I talk to myself for hours all the time when no one is around, too! I don’t buy myself flowers but countless I have bought myself something nice!

White Zombie – Black Sunshine

Some people say Rob should have stayed in this band. This is some heavy stuff! My RMT showed me this song after we wrapped up my treatment.

What can I say? I should listen to some more of this because it’s really good and the kind of music I would like to drive home to after a rough day/night at work.

Essenger & Cyroshell – As Above, So Below

I’ve listened to this so many times that it’s still in my head. I first heard it as part of the new trailer for the fan-made game Bionicle: Masks of Power. I immediately listened to the full song after and already detected the references to that universe in the lyrics. The song is epic and makes me think of all things Bionicle as it should, especially the Toa traveling throughout Mata Nui, battling those serving or corrupted by Makuta until they unite.

Cyroshell never fails to deliver when they do songs for this universe, and it seems they’ve been fans ever since. Essenger did an amazing job with this as well. I am glad he was able to do something metal for me to love as a Metalhead and lifelong Bionicle fan. It pleases me to see that the community is still alive to this day after being dropped from where it was licensed, and I am so excited for this game.

Alright, so with that wrapped up, I’m also excited for my first concert in years: Rob Zombie with Alice Cooper along with Ministry and Filter next week.

I would also like to focus on my fanfiction for a month or two as we head into the last weeks of summer and into the fall. I feel like that part of my writing passion has taken a backseat lately due to me juggling my other hobbies and myofascial pain.

I wish to no longer procrastinate with my fics, so yeah. So we’ll see how that affects how much I update here. Until next time.
