All Davoth Loves is Fame and I – Music of July 2021

I’m settled into my new job now and there’s been a lot going on with me adjusting and trying to get enough sleep, all while making time for maintaining this blog, my Wattpad work, and my video games!

Here are the songs for this month.

Cyndi Lauper – All Through The Night

When it comes to classic artists, Cyndi Lauper is one that gets talked about a lot, but I feel like this song is one that I don’t hear mentioned as much as her other big hits. I hear it on the radio depending on the station but I couldn’t figure out what it was called. I just knew that it was Cyndi singing it, and once I heard it again at work, I decided to finally track down the name.

Now that I’ve found it, it’s truly a beautiful song with a melody that gives me so many feels. Long live Cyndi Lauper. I don’t know what else to say, it’s just a lovely song.

Andrew Hulshult – Davoth

Gotta put this in here after my victory this month against Davoth! Everyone tells me the Immora track is great, but personally, I like this one more when it comes to TAG2’s soundtrack. It’s a great combination of metal and electric for the final battle that determines whether the demons of Hell will keep invading or be obliterated.

The beat feels like a dance as I fought the Dark Lord trying not to get too close to him but close enough so I could stun him. It also goes perfectly with the ever-changing backdrop of the fight! Of course Doomguy has nothing to say in the end other than “no”!

Dua Lipa – Love Again

Dua Lipa has been all over the radio and she does have talent. This one is my favorite with its Wild Western theme, which I didn’t expect in the music video. What’s with the floating egg? Why didn’t it break in the end? Anyway, the song is catchy, great for singing and dancing.

It’s also perfect to represent my new love for Karl Heisenberg since he’s got that cowboy-ish look along with his mad-scientist attitude in the junkyard! I’m not going to worry about what the fandom does with him, I’ll just focus on myself and that love for him and this song is where I realized I had to do just that. There’s also one more thing it makes me think of in relation to him that has happened this month, and I’ve been quiet about it here ever since, unless you follow me on Instagram then you’ll know what it is already. I will share that story on here eventually.

Irene Cara – Fame

I don’t know how this song popped up, other than I heard it work one day and thought it was good. My mom might know this artist better than I do. It’s a great dance tune and there is a helluva lot of great music from the 80’s.

Not much else to say, it’s just catchy.

Slipknot – Before I Forget

This definitely has to go here as this week has been devastating for heavy metal fans as we’ve lost three legends over the course of just a few days. The one that hit me the most was the death of Joey Jordison, Slipknot’s former drummer. I couldn’t believe it, he was only 46 and we don’t know the exact cause yet.

But he was a great drummer and it makes me think back to the days where I listened to a lot of Slipknot in my last year of high school. By that time and age I was getting bored of the same shit on the radio all the time, so when some of my newly acquired online friends were listening to metal, I checked out Slipknot which one of those friends loved. There was no turning back from there and I found myself listening to the tracks from this album and All Hope Is Gone the most. It was something different for a change and I loved it.

This particular song is well-known to many and my first exposure to the band. It’s the only music video where the band members don’t have their masks on but their faces are not shown. It’s a song that’s not too heavy and aggressive compared to their older stuff.

Listening to it now makes me recall the days where I was obsessed with Slipknot when I was 18. I even had a crush on Mick Thomson once, I always thought his mask was the scariest and he seemed very down to Earth in some interviews I saw. But Joey was my second favorite, he was a great drummer and I can imagine on stage he was loved by the crowd. He had a very gothic image with his mask and all no matter how much it changed.

Rest in peace Joey.
