Thrills and Frills

It’s time, time again to write about another Dreamlight Valley update! This feels like a big one because we have new features coming to the valley and the isle all in one. Looking at the roadmap always makes me excited for what’s next. It turns out that Gameloft is really good at keeping secrets until the update is ready for a release.

Up until this update’s release, we didn’t know much about it other than it would be the second act of the DLC and a new villager would come to the valley.

Well, I was right about who that was, it’s Daisy Duck! She comes ot the valley and brings more than just her friendship to build, but she also opens her own boutique. This building was teased a few months back and people kept wondering what it meant. Well, now we know.

I brought Daisy over right away, she had left the valley sometime ago to look into the secrets of the Forgetting as Mickey said, but now she was ready to come back and make herself at home.

Let me just say, her house is just as adorable as Minnie’s with the bright pastel colours and I’ve liked some of the conversations I’ve had with her so far. I completely support the business Dots & Daisies she wants to open with Minnie. As for the boutique, her first quest does involve setting it up, but once it is, it’s where we get into the new features it has.

It’s a place where we can show off our designs we’ve made with clothing and furniture for other players to use when they visit. This is something that I’ve seen before in Animal Crossing. There is also a daily challenge area where we must take advantage of the categories of clothing and furniture to meet specific requirements. I was confused at first because I thought what I was supposed to do was use my own touch of magic designs but instead what I had to do was use items in my inventory to create the theme. Completing the challenge awards special tokens that we can use to buy more types of furniture and clothes to make our own designs.

I’m slowly starting to use the design feature more in this game and I made a Frollo dress. I don’t think I like it as much as my Jafar one but it’s pretty darn close to the original! I guess I can always take some ideas that people have shared online. I’m sure players have posted many guides about how to make something specific.

It’s hard to see but in this photo I’m riding the new magic carpet attraction I placed in the Forest of Valor. Yeah, one great new feature this update introduced was something I had been asking for since last year’s Pride of the Valley update. The game’s photo mode, when used with attractions like the Ferris Wheel, you can get on the ride and take a photo on it! Yay! I can ride the rides now!

The Star Path also introduced some new rides as well, such as the magic carpets. I’m sure we all have the urge to belt out “A Whole New World” on it! So yeah, the Star Path had some great items this time, I loved that it had so many Aladdin items and not just the magic carpet attraction but also the Diamond in the Rough sweater.

Eventually, I finished Mike and Sulley’s quests where Mike had some issues with allergies and eventually started a comedy show. This originally was to compete with Vanellope but soon they found a way to do it together. Sulley’s quests were about bringing everyone together for some fun social events.

Right away I continued on with the second act of the DLC which introduced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. How in the hell is he able to take off his head like that? Jack Skellington is one thing, but Oswald, damn…. anyway, when I first met him, he couldn’t communicate properly (later we were able to fix that) so I had to figure out how to get him to help me retrieve the Spark of Imagination in a massive chamber where it was guarded “Heart of Atlantis” style. (I recently crafted something in the game that looks just like those fish vehicles the Atlanteans drove but the game doesn’t call it anything associated with that film which is outrageous)

Of course, it was quite predictable because Jafar showed up immediately and stole it, now he’s messing around with it and I will have to wait until this summer to stop him. I mean why would he go get it himself when he could wait for me to retrieve it (since I’m the one with the Hourglass) and then take it at the last minute? Because he’s Jafar!

So a lot of new things happened with this update, the next one hasn’t been announced yet but it is another realm, so hopefully soon. They said late spring this year and it’s late spring now so better be out before the 21st!
